The festival gathered around 1000 young people interested in business and innovation and it was opened by the President of Latvia, Egils Levits. This was followed by a discussion on the role of students in the development of a modern and sustainable state. RSU was represented at the discussion by Vice-Rector for Administration and Development, Toms Baumanis. Later in the day RSU Vice-Rector for Science, Agrita Kiopa, gave a presentation on the Innovation Grants for Students project, which is co-funded by the EU, together with her colleagues from the University of Latvia and Riga Technical University. This project aims to foster innovative thinking and entrepreneurial abilities in local students.

Representatives from world-renowned companies like WIX.com and Revolut appeared on two parallel stages throughout the day, while Printful, Anatomy Next, solfeg.io and other start-ups demonstrated Latvia’s start-up potential. ICEBREAKERS’19 covered topics such as professions of the future, technology development and artificial intelligence. Students also had the opportunity to receive practical information on how to start their own business and how to upgrade their innovation potential. The festival ended with a 10K Pitch Battle during which 10 start-ups competed to win a grant of 10 000 EUR to bring their ideas to full potential.

The organisers of the festival are the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University and Digital Freedom Festival.
