On Tuesday, 3 November the Cabinet of Ministers decided to present Certificates of Appreciation to several professionals working in the cultural and public sector and public administration employees. Among them were two professors from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) - Professor Ģirts Briģis and Professor Ludmila Vīksna.


The Cabinet of Ministers decided to award Certificates of Appreciation to:

  • Professor Ģirts Briģis, Head of RSU Department of Public Health and Epidemiology who received this recognition due to his contribution to public health promotion, research and training young professionals. 
  • Professor Ludmila Vīksna, Head of the RSU Department of Infectology and a Corresponding Member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences who received this recognition due to her contribution to scientific work in the field of infectology and studying pressing public health issues; 

Prof. Briģis and Prof. Vīksna have also made an invaluable contribution to COVID-19 research and on measures mitigating its effects.
