As part of the Erasmus+ exchange programme Rīga Stradiņš University Institute of the History of Medicine has launched a joint initiative with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (ranked among the world’s TOP 100 universities). This April, Director of RSU Institute of the History of Medicine Prof. Juris Salaks and Assistant Professor Ieva Lībiete paid a visit to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Max Stern Academic College.

During the visit RSU representatives gave academic lectures on the history of medicine to students and teaching staff at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Welcoming speeches were delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. David Lichtstein and by Prof. Kenneth Collins from the Unit for the History of Medicine.

Currently both parties are working upon a memorandum of understanding on cooperation to be signed end of May in Rīga when representatives of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem will be visiting RSU to deliver guest lectures to our students and general public. The bilateral cooperation will offer RSU domestic and international students the opportunity to acquire elective courses on Hebrew history of medicine and the students of Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in turn, will have the chance to learn about the extensive information available at Pauls Stradiņš Museum of the History of Medicine and RSU Museum on such topics as medical history of the Baltic region and medical anthropology.
