Successful weekend for RSU sports teams – women’s handball team reaches final, basketball team advances to semifinals

Last weekend was particularly successful for RSU sports teams.

On Sunday, 18 January, the RSU women’s handball team defeated the Jēkabpils SS team and secured a place in the Latvian Cup final, winning the semi-final series with a convincing victory over two games. 

Meanwhile, the RSU/VEF Rīga basketball players reached the semifinals of the Užava Latvian Cup, defeating the University of Latvia 86:73, playing at home, in a crucial quarterfinal match, and securing a historic victory with 155:154 over two games. 

RSU/VEF Rīga has become the first Ramirent National Basketball League team in the past five years to exclude a top-league team from the Latvian Cup.

The success of the RSU teams demonstrates a high level of athletic skill, team spirit, and steady development. We are proud of the teams and congratulate them on their achievements!
