Roberts Rumba will defend his doctoral dissertation on 16 April in an open meeting of the RSU Clinical Medicine doctoral committee. His dissertation is titled 'Endovascular Transvenous Femoropopliteal Bypass and its Effectiveness Compared to Open Bypass in the Treatment of Long Segment Superficial Femoral Artery Occlusion.'
The 18th Latvian Conference on Rare Diseases, organised by Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), the Latvian Association of Rare Disease Specialists (RSSA), and Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (PSCUH), will take place this Friday, 11 April, at 14:00 at RSU.
From 24 to 28 March, Kristīne Blumfelde-Rutka — lecturer and researcher at the RSU Faculty of Social Sciences, PhD candidate, and sustainability expert at the RSU Rector’s Governance Office — represented Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) at the International Staff Training Week hosted by the University of Marburg in Germany. The event brought together representatives from over 15 universities from across the globe.
‘Artificial intelligence platforms and their applications in the study process, research, and the development of new technologies have become an integral part of our reality. The establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Centre serves as a bridge for collaboration—where science meets technology to jointly foster new ideas. These ideas will be transformed into innovations that drive the modern development of both industry and society,’ emphasised Prof.
On 3 April, a meeting was held at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Pharmaceutical Education and Research Centre, bringing together RSU students, the leadership of the Department of Residency, and representatives from the Ministry of Health and various healthcare institutions.
The event was opened by RSU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dins Šmits, who underscored the importance of the professional, communication, and collaboration skills that students develop during their residency.

The BioPhoT platform supports research and innovation projects in the fields of biomedicine, medical technology, pharmacy, photonics, smart materials, electronics, electrical engineering, technology, and engineering systems.
