On 10 April 2025, the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre (METC) will host the Ambassador of Canada and representatives of the Embassy.
The Ambassador will meet with RSU management, tour the Medical Education Technology Centre and learn about military medical education at RSU, and meet with students.
Sometimes, solving healthcare challenges doesn’t require special experience or skills – all you need is determination and the ability to understand patients’ needs. This was demonstrated at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Week 2025 by students and innovation enthusiasts who participated in the MedTech Sprint hackathon organised by the RSU Innovation Center, STADA Latvia and EIT Health. Over the course of two days, the students created not only ideas but also real prototypes.
Five international conferences, nine parallel sessions, nearly 1,300 presentations from more than 40 countries, 60 experts from 19 countries, and 8,976 participants from 72 countries—these numbers sum up this year’s most significant scientific event, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Week 2025.

On 26 March, several staff members from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) were honoured at the Annual Awards in Medicine, organised by the Latvian Medical Association (LMA). RSU representatives received some of the most prestigious awards at the event, which presented a total of 22 honours, including special awards.

To promote understanding of sustainability issues and define clear goals for advancing sustainable development at all levels of the university’s operations, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) has established a working group to prepare a sustainability document. The working group was formed on 27 November 2024, with the aim of strategically planning and implementing sustainability initiatives at the university.
The evolving landscape of international security policy demands that democracies be prepared to defend their values against emerging threats. This was a key conclusion of the panel Military and Diplomatic Instruments in Sustainable Protection Against Hard and Soft Security Crises in NATO and the European Union. The discussion was opened by RSU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Dins Šmits, who highlighted the critical importance of international security in the current geopolitical climate.
One of the key events of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Week is the conference Innovation and Artificial Intelligence: The Path from Research to Practice. It brings together leading experts in artificial intelligence (AI), policymakers, academics, and industry representatives to discuss the role of AI in research, education, healthcare, and society at large.
The Open Door Days at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) research units are designed to promote interdisciplinary collaboration. Researchers, doctoral students, and colleagues from RSU and the RSU Latvian Academy of Sport Education (LASE) are invited to participate.

On 21 March, the Social Sciences Research Centre at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted the launch of the book Transnational Visual Activism in Support of Women’s Reproductive Rights: My Body, My Choice. The event was led by RSU lead researcher Jana Kukaine, author of the chapter "My First Year Too: Violence in Childbirth and Maternal Subjectivity".
