Opening the Society. Health. Welfare. conference, the Director of the RSU Institute of Public Health, Assoc. Prof. Anda Ķīvīte-Urtāne, emphasised that every stage of life is unique and requires a tailored approach. This international conference will explore the challenges of childhood, adulthood, and the end of life.
Half a year has already passed since 1 July 2024 when Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and the Latvian Academy of Sport Education (LASE) started on their joint path of development, creating a unified health and sport science ecosystem that will ensure high-quality, internationally competitive, research-based higher education and good governance.

Sintija Miļuna-Meldere will defend her doctoral dissertation on 9 April in an open meeting of the RSU Clinical Medicine doctoral committee. Her dissertation is titled 'The Impact of Smokeless Tobacco Pouches, and Electronic Cigarettes on Oral Health.'
Antibiotics are increasingly used to treat a wide range of diseases, but an unwanted side effect is the growing problem of antibiotic resistance. To combat this, various studies are being conducted to find new ways to treat bacterial and viral infections.

On Monday, 17 March, the Irish Minister for Trade Promotion, AI and Digital Transformation, Niamh Smyth, along with Ambassador Eimear Friel and other representatives of the Irish delegation, visited Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).
During their meeting with RSU Rector, Professor Aigars Pētersons, and other university leadership representatives, the Irish delegation expressed their support for strengthening collaboration in studies, research, innovation, and the application of artificial intelligence.
Viktorija Ulanova (Igumnova) will defend her doctoral dissertation on 7 April in an open meeting of the RSU Basic Sciences of Medicine, including Pharmacy doctoral committee. Her dissertation is titled 'Pharmacogenetic Aspects of Anti-Tuberculosis Therapy in Latvian Population.'

RSU Research Week 2025 opened on 24 March with an ambitious plenary session focusing on the role of research, technology, and the human factor in healthcare. Following opening remarks by RSU Rector Aigars Pētersons, the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, welcomed the participants.
As part of RSU Research Week 2025, the discussion "The Young Athlete in Latvia: How Sustainable is Our System?" will take place on March 28, 2025, from 13:30 to 15:00. The event is organized by the IMRSportsLV team within the National Research Program "Sports" project "Innovations, Methodologies, and Recommendations for the Development and Management of the Sports Sector in Latvia."(IMRSportsLV)
