On 26–27 May 2026, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will hold the First Baltic Emergency Medicine Congress – the largest emergency medicine event in Latvia to date, bringing together doctors, researchers, students, lecturers, and industry professionals from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, France, and the United States.

Karina Dubovska will defend her doctoral thesis on Tuesday, 16 June, in an open meeting of the Doctoral Committee of Clinical Medicine. Her dissertation is titled 'Association of Acquired Coagulation Changes and Genetic Polymorphisms on Microvascular Free Flap Thrombosis in Reconstructive Surgery.'
Aleksandra Kārkle will defend her doctoral thesis on Thursday, 4 June, in an open meeting of the Doctoral Committee of Clinical Medicine. Her dissertation is titled 'Evaluation of Prognostic Factors, New Predictive Biomarkers, and Organ-Sparing Strategy for Rectal Cancer after Combined Neoadjuvant Therapy.'
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Professor Emeritus Dr. habil. med. Līga Aberberga-Augškalne, physician and scientist.
Līga Aberberga-Augškalne was born on 28 March 1944, in Riga. She graduated from the Rīga Medical Institute and began her professional career at the university in 1971.
On Friday, 8 May at 11:00, a Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) team consisting of Professor Jānis Vētra, project administrator and doctoral student Arta Grabčika, and Faculty of Medicine students Felicita Luīze Kozlovska and Kristiana Jurkevica will present data from the anthropology study conducted during the summer at the Ventspils Culture Centre.
