Russia’s military aggression has caused a crisis in the Ukrainian higher education and research systems. Ukraine's intellectual development has been put on pause as a result of which many students, researchers, and lecturers are leaving Ukraine to look for opportunities to continue their academic growth and careers elsewhere.

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is organising the practical seminar on surgical operation techniques “Insight into modern cardiac surgery” on 24 March. The seminar, which takes place as part of the International Student Conference (ISC2022), will give medical students at RSU the opportunity to learn about current issues in the field under the guidance of specialists from the Centre of Cardiac Surgery at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (PSCUH).

As we are heading towards the third spring marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) invites the scientific community, practitioners, students, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organisations, as well as industry representatives to its international Covid-19 conference: Impact, Innovations and Planning. The conference will take place online from 28 to 29 April and will cover not only medical and public health, but also communication, legal, technological aspects and more.

On Saturday, 5 March, many professors, lecturers, researchers, administrative staff, and students from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) participated in a peace march in a show of support for Ukraine that was organised by the Civic Alliance - Latvia.

A total of more than 30,000 people gathered at the Freedom Monument in Riga to participate in the march that led to the Embassy of Ukraine.
