During the last week of November, ANSER (Academic Network on Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy) members, including Rīga Stradiņš University, met at Ghent University and analysed the progress of joint projects as well as existing challenges in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in Europe and globally.
This week the International Department (ID) at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) commenced a new lecture series aimed at fostering the adaptation of international students in Latvia and integration of the multicultural student community. The first lecture, titled “Confidence Building in the Professional World” was presented by Latvia’s leading specialist in business communication, protocol and etiquette, Irma Kalniņa.
On 11 October, the Latvian Medical Association presented its Annual Award in Medicine, and in the Public Health Person of the Year category the award went to Professor at the Faculty of Public Health and Welfare at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Ģirts Briģis, who is also Head of the Public Health and Epidemiology Department. He has raised an entire generation of Latvian physicians – they learned the basics of epidemiology and acquired skills in substantiating their arguments with real study results.
From a regional perspective, countries often face similar or even the same safety concerns and challenges, nevertheless a common societal security policy is an issue that has become a standing item on the agenda on the topic of regional security.

Starlight Express is the starting point for a series of Christmas events at RSU, which lead up to the ‘Northern Lights Christmas Ball’ which will be held on 14 December.

On International Day of Tolerance on 16 November, social anthropologist Assist. Prof. Klāvs Sedlenieks, Head of the Social Anthropology master's study programme at the Department of Communication Studies of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) explains the meaning of tolerance, or patience, and encourages us to think about the society that we would all want to live in – a tolerant or intolerant one.
The 3rd International Conference "Internationalisation: from Words to Action" at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) gathered over 120 delegates from 30 countries representing 65 universities and other institutions associated with higher education. Erasmus+ International Week was held in conjunction with the conference, the aim of which was to showcase current issues in the international cooperation of various institutions of higher education.
