Objective

To gain a knowledge about human being as a unified system.
The role of genetic processes in the health preservation and homeostasis.
To give an insight in the role of molecular biology in drug discovery and design, as well as basic knowledge in genetics to create a background for specific knowledge in the medicine and skills to use it in everyday practice.

Prerequisites

The basic knowledge in biology (high school level).

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

The study course will give the students basic knowledge about cell functions and structure, cellular impairment role in human disease process. Acquires knowledge in cell life cycle, division types. Mendelian laws. Knows basic types of inheritance. Can solve genetic problems at basic level. Have insights about pharmacogenetics.

Skills

Basic skills in light microscopy, preparation of samples for light microscopy. Students can identify different structures of cell, can describe oogenesis and spermatogenesis. Knows how to draw and draw pedigrees. Students can do elemnteray problem solving in genetics.
They different types of inheritance, can anylze them.

Competence

During study course students perform lab works, are able to make simple microslides. Knows how to draw and draw pedigree.
