For students

This February, 150 local and 279 international students representing 20 countries joined the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) student body. In this winter intake the university received a total of 654 applications with “Medicine” as the most popular study programme among international applicants. Local applicants were most interested in the study programme “Law” which was offered both at undergraduate and postgraduate level in this winter intake.

The study programme “Dentistry” was the second most popular choice for international applicants. They also gained admission to the undergraduate programme “Nursing”, postgraduate programme “Public Health” and the interuniversity postgraduate study programme “Social Work with Children and Youth”. In total, RSU offers 11 study programmes that are taught in English.

The majority of newly-admitted international students come from Germany, Finland and Sweden. Citizens of Italy expressed a greater interest in studies at RSU compared to previous years.

This winter, local students had an opportunity to choose between three undergraduate and six postgraduate study programmes, among them a newly-launched interdisciplinary programme “Health Communication”, with nine newly-admitted Master's students.

In total, in comparison with previous years, this winter no significant differences in terms of the number of applicants and programmes were observed.
