Call for nominations for the RSU Senate elections
On 3 September 2024, the RSU Constitutional Assembly approved the Regulation for the Preparation and Conduct of the 2024 RSU Senate* Elections. We invite all RSU colleagues to take an active part in nominating candidates for the Senate and to follow the nomination process set out in the regulations.
Nominations should be sent to velesanasrsu[pnkts]lv - candidates can be nominated at departmental meetings, by a group of staff, by an individual staff member, or by the candidates themselves. For each candidate nominated, it should be stated to which group of Senators they are nominated. The groups of senators are: professors and associate professors, academic staff, and general staff. Candidates must be nominated by 23 September 2024 at the latest.
- The candidate shall submit a written Declaration by a Senatorial Candidate to the Electoral Commission. The Declaration must be submitted to the Electoral Commission no later than by 23 September 2024. Please submit electronically signed statements to velesanasrsu[pnkts]lv or by hand delivery to the Department of Document Management and Archives, marked ‘To the RSU Electoral Commission’.
The Student Union (Studējošo pašpārvalde, SP) shall elect and submit to the Electoral Commission information, including declarations of student senators, on the members of the RSU Senate elected by the SP no later than by 23 September 2024.

* In accordance with Article 31 of the RSU Constitution and Article 5 of the RSU Senate regulation, the RSU Senate consists of 31 senators – the Rector ex officio and 30 elected senators, including 23 academic staff representatives (of whom 15 are professors and associate professors and eight are other academic staff representatives), six student representatives, and one RSU general staff representative.
