Four RSU Professors Presented With Highest State Decoration
Following a decision by the President of Latvia and the Chapter of Orders on 30 October 2020, the highest state decoration has been bestowed upon 115 members of society. Among them were four professors from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU): Prof. Andris Jumtiņš, Assoc. Prof. Ojārs Teteris, Prof. Jānis Zaļkalns and Prof. Ģirts Briģis.
State decorations are presented to those citizens who have served their country and its people through exceptional and selfless professional and social work, thus contributing to the development of Latvia.
The Chapter of Orders has awarded the Order of the Three Stars and appointed as Officers of the Order:
- Professor Andris Jumtiņš, Head of RSU Department of Orthopaedics of the Faculty of Medicine and Traumatologist-orthopaedist at the Spine and Joint Surgery Centre, Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopaedics;
- Associate Professor Ojārs Teteris, Senior Forensic Medicine Expert at the State Centre for Forensic Medical Examination, Chairman of the Scientific Methodological Council and lecturer at RSU Department of Pathology.
The Chapter of Orders has awarded the Cross of Recognition and appointed as Officers:
- Professor Jānis Zaļkalns, Head of Gerontology Clinic of Riga East University Hospital and lecturer at RSU Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Diseases and Department of Family Medicine;
- Professor Ģirts Briģis, Head of Department of Public Health and Epidemiology of the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare.
