International project offers new digital skills training opportunities for seniors

On 27 May, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted Lithuanian and Estonian seniors’ unions who are its partners in the project Vecums nav šķērslis (Age is not a barrier) and the project coordinator, the specialised learning centre Rutas skola. During the meeting, the participants signed partnership agreements and launched the project.

The project will provide free training in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other programmes. Participants will learn, for example, how to read CNN and BBC news in Latvian and how to use other digital tools for everyday life.

Self-learning materials on 24 online Microsoft and Google programmes available in Latvian will be developed as part of the project. The materials will be published on the project website www.vecumsnavskerslis.lv by the end of the year and will be available free of charge upon registration. Online tutorials will also be available early next year so that anyone interested is able to ask questions.
