Medical students and residents invited to apply for XII Latvian Congress of Gastroenterology
The XII Latvian Gastroenterology Congress will take place on 29 November at the ATTA Centre in Riga. The Congress is one of the most important and oldest medical congresses in the Baltic States, held for the first time at the beginning of this century, and has since then become an important tradition in the Latvian and international medical community. The congress is organised every two years and brings together 800-1,100 medical professionals from Latvia and abroad.
This year's congress will be attended by at least 800 doctors from various specialties, including gastroenterologists, internists, general practitioners, surgeons, oncologists and other specialists. Traditionally, leading Latvian specialists as well as internationally renowned experts will be the speakers and moderators of the sessions. The congress programme includes plenary and breakout scientific readings, as well as several parallel satellite symposia, which will focus on the latest advances in specific diseases or treatments. The Congress venue will host an industry exhibition, which will showcase the latest technologies, diagnostics and treatments.

The scientific committee of the congress is composed of Rīga Stradiņš University faculty members, respected specialists in the field. The chairman of the committee is the Rector of RSU Prof. Aigars Pētersons, the secretary - Assoc. Prof. Aleksejs Derovs, professors Jānis Gardovskis, Dace Gardovska, Ilze Grope, Juta Kroiča, Sandra Lejniece, Iveta Ozolanta, Haralds Plaudis, Juris Pokrotnieks, Dace Rezeberga and Ludmila Viksna, Prof. Emer. Regīna Kleina and Assoc. Prof. Artūrs Ozoliņš.
