For Students

Keith Shannon, the British Ambassador to Latvia, visited Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) in October to meet with students from the UK. The visit took place as part of the event series Meet the Ambassador.

During his visit, Shannon gave an overview of the embassy’s work and other matters essential for UK citizens living in Latvia.

Additionally Ilze Briede, the Head of Migration Division at the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, and Daiga Ivsiņa, an expert at the Ministry of Education and Science, addressed the students to discuss Britain's split from the European Union.

There are currently more than 40 students from the UK studying at RSU, and there is an active student group operating under the RSU International Students’ Association – the British and Irish Society.

The Meet the Ambassador series was initiated by the International Department at RSU in 2016 to provide international students at RSU with the opportunity to get to know the embassies of their home countries and their work in Latvia.
