A PhD is the next crucial step after a master’s or equivalent degree, offering the opportunity to enhance your academic and research skills, develop advanced research expertise, and lay a solid foundation for a successful scientific career.

The Department of Doctoral Studies coordinates and supports the study process, assisting doctoral students in both their research and academic work. It oversees the study and dissertation processes while also providing support for the development of high-quality research and securing funding.

RSU currently has over 250 doctoral students who are shaping and advancing the future of science!

Study programmes and methods

We offer full-time, accredited doctoral study programmes in Health Care and Social Sciences.

RSU has joined Europe’s Doctorate Concept and the Bologna Declaration, which identifies doctoral education as one of the key priorities for Europe’s universities.

The aim of doctoral studies is to train young scientists for research, academic work and the economy. Throughout their studies, doctoral students take theoretical courses, develop practical skills and write a scientific thesis.
