Bhupesh K Prusty is a tenured professor at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), focusing on host-virus interactions during herpesvirus infection and latency. His research aims to uncover how herpesviruses transition from harmless to harmful pathogens, contributing to diseases like chronic fatigue syndrome, long COVID, and multiple sclerosis. Prusty started his postdoctoral training with Nobel laureate Prof. Harald zur Hausen at DKFZ in Germany, and later made an independent research career at Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg.
Adolescents can develop various psychiatric (emotional or behavioural) disorders. This has been a significant public health problem globally and in Latvia for several decades. If these disorders are not promptly recognised and treated, they can lead to serious health and well-being problems in adulthood. In order to successfully recognise and prevent adolescent mental health problems, it is important to understand what factors influence their occurrence.
On Friday, 14 June, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Innovation Centre’s B-Space business incubator invites everyone to the final event of its incubation programme INK – Demo Day.

On Thursday, 6 June, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted the only medical law conference in Latvia for the fourth year in a row. More than 700 participants attended the event. The aim of the conference was not only to highlight challenges in the field of medical law and the relationship between patients and medical practitioners but also provide solutions to the issues discussed.
Oļegs Černiševs will defend his doctoral dissertation on Monday, 8 July at 14:00 in an online open meeting of the RSU Economics and Business doctoral committee. His dissertation is titled Regional Dimension in European Union: Shaping Key Performance Indicators for Financial Institutions.

From 10 to 14 June of this year, the Conference of the European Association for Health Information and Libraries (EAHIL) will be held in Riga, gathering around 200 librarians and information specialists from libraries operating in the field of medicine and health information.
On Thursday, 30 May, the Ambassador of Finland Anne Saloranta visited the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Medical Education Technology Centre. Cooperation opportunities in the fields of medical technology, studies and research, as well as social sciences were jointly discussed.

On 28 May, Prof. Amulya Kumar Saxena was conferred the title of Honorary Doctor of Medicine in the Senate Hall of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).
‘Your children are just as important as our children. If we can have the same Iphones, then we should also have the same opportunities for treating children. I urge everyone to remember that there are difficulties everywhere, including in the countries where I work, but they must be overcome and not accepted. I am honoured to receive this title,’ Prof. Saxena said in his inaugural speech.
