The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Medical Education Technology Centre (METC) has developed a new virtual training scenario on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in cooperation with medical technology start-up Exonicus, as reported by Dienas Bizness on db.lv.

Students and medical residents from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) are welcome to apply for the international training programme AIRIS 2020 on the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare. Applications are open until June 5.

The training programme will provide an understanding into how artificial intelligence can contribute to solving the shortage of healthcare specialists around the world and to make healthcare services accessible to everyone.

Assistant Professor Ingus Skadiņš, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), describes the rapid transition from on-site to remote studies as a cold shower. However, Asst. Prof. Skadiņš emphasises that the university as a whole, including the Faculty of Medicine, has successfully survived this sudden shock and adapted to the new circumstances together with students.

‘The greatest task this year is to draft a five-year research development strategy for the university,’ says Liene Ņikitina-Zaķe, Director of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Department. She has worked intensively in the field of science at the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre for many years, received the L’Oréal grant for a genetic study of rheumatoid arthritis, led the genetic diagnostics laboratory GenEra and has now joined the RSU science development team.

On June 3, 2020, a researchers' breakfast on the topic of 'Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Methods in Biomedicine' will take place at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).
