Cinema Lab Initiative to Continue in 2020

Rīga Stradiņš University’s (RSU) project Cinema Lab closed out this year’s series with a screening of the political thriller All the President’s Men. The screening took place on Tuesday 3 December and was preceded by a lecture. This educational project lead by film theorist Dita Rietuma will continue next year – four screenings of films supplemented with expert discussions are scheduled for 2020.

RSU Congratulates Recipients of Highest State Honours

Three Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) professors were awarded the highest state honours this year. They were congratulated at the university in a solemn ceremony on 28 November 2019. RSU recognised Professor Andrejs Millers, Officer of the Order of the Three Stars, Professor Inga Millere, Officer of the Cross of Recognition, and Professor Rūta Care, Bearer of the Order of Recognition, for their outstanding achievements.

Students Organise Eventful Christmas Week

The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Student Union (SU) together with the International Students’ Association (ISA) will be organising a week of Christmas activities. This will take place at RSU from 9 to 13 December with events to warm your heart, energise your mind and satisfy your stomach. 

RSU Will Help Reduce the Risk of Cervical Cancer By Developing Modern Technologies

Latvia is among the countries with the highest rates of cervical cancer in Europe. There is currently no indication that the situation is set to improve in the near future. To tackle the problem and to significantly reduce incidence rates, the Institute of Public Health at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and researchers Anda Ķīvīte-Urtāne, Una Kojalo and Jana Žodžika have started work on an international project to modernise the cervical cancer screening process.

Marina Kameņecka-Usova will defend her doctoral dissertation on 12 March at 13:00 in an open meeting of the RSU Legal Sciences Degree Committee on Zoom. Her dissertation is titled 'Legal Aspects of Alternative Dispute Resolution in Sports Law'.

Ilze Apine will defend her doctoral dissertation on 30 December at 13:00 in an open meeting of the RSU Clinical Medicine Degree Committee on Zoom. Her dissertation is titled 'Magnetic resonance enterography in the diagnosis of Crohn’s disease using diffusion-weighted imaging with background body signal suppression (DWIBS) sequence'.

Zane Vitenberga-Verza will be defending her doctoral dissertation on 28 December at 10:00 in an open meeting of the RSU Basic Sciences of Medicine, including Pharmacology Degree Committee (ONLINE). The dissertation is titled 'Morphological Characteristics of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Affected Lung Tissue'.
