The RSU Department of Health Management at the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare invites students, graduate medical trainees, academic and research staff to the guest lecture 'Application of Health Economic tools in Dutch health system' by Prof. Dr. Wim Groot from the Netherlands. The lecture will take place on Friday, 11 October and will cover topics related to healthcare organisation, funding and efficiency in the Netherlands.

The inauguration ceremony for the recipient of an RSU Honorary Doctorate Degree – physycian, doctor of medicine and professor at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Črt Marinček – was held on 19 September in the Great Hall of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). The inauguration took place on the same day as the opening of the First Latvian National Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.
Amid loud discussions surrounding the Latvian healthcare budget Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted the largest rehabilitation specialist event in Latvia’s history - the First Latvian National Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. The congress took place on 19-20 September and gathered 850 Latvian professionals from various fields (physicians, functional specialists, psychologists, social workers etc.).
Professor Sebastian Brandner and Zane Jaunmuktāne, Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consulting Neuropathologist, both from the Institute of Neurology at the University College London, will be visiting Rīga Stradiņš University on 11 October.
Dr. Jaunmuktāne will be delivering the lecture 'Principles of primary and metastatic brain tumour diagnostics' and Prof. Brandner will deliver the lecture 'Human to Human transmission of neurodegenerative diseases'.
Both lectures will take place in English.
A prototype for the lightning-speed mobile data transmission technology 5G has come to Latvia. This has resulted in many wide-spread discussions. Associate Professor Ivars Vanadziņš from the RSU Institute for Occupational Safety and Environmental Health is a doctor and explains what 5G is what effect it has on our health.
The publishers Springer Nature has just published an edition of Global Psychosomatic Medicine and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (editor - Hoyle Leigh). Lecturers from the RSU Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy prof. Dr. med. Gunta Ancāne, Assist. Prof. Dr. med. Artūrs Utināns, Dr Artūrs Miksons and Dr Artūrs Ancāns are among the authors.
On 25 September RSU International Department jointly with RSU International Students' Association and Students Council organized the Speed Friending event for local and international students to foster communication among both student communities.
On 20 September, two representatives from Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weide in Germany (OTH) – Professor Clemens Bulitta, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Professor Ralf Ringler from the Faculty of Engineering and the Head of the Medical Engineering – visited Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).
