The RSU Department of Communication Studies and Dita Rietuma, the Director of the Latvian National Film Center, has launched the Cinema Lab film lecture series. The theme of this year's series is 'The media in film'.
The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) film and lecture series, Cinema Lab, that focuses on how the media is portrayed in film will continue with the Hollywood blockbuster The Truman Show (1998). The film will be screened in the RSU Great Hall on 28 October at 17:00. This will be the second event of the cycle, and this time the film and the topics it covers will be discussed with the audience by RSU lecturer and film critic Dita Rietuma together with media professional and media group leader Baiba Zuzēna.
On October 14, the RSU Department of Communication Studies and Dita Rietuma, the Director of the Latvian National Film Center, will kick off the film lecture series Cinema Lab. The theme of this year's series is 'The media in film'. The first screening will be at 17:00 in the RSU Great Hall.
On 11 and 12 October, international relations experts and leaders from around the world will gather in the Latvian National Library in Riga to discuss key regional and international security and policy issues.
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will host the annual RSU International Student Conference 'Health and Social Sciences' on 27 and 28 March 2020. This will be the 70th iteration of the largest international student conference in the Baltics! The conference will bring together domestic and international students, experienced participants and professionals from the field. The leader of this year's conference is Marija Luīze Kalniņa, a 5th-year student from the Faculty of Medicine.
Two open lectures by renowned anthropologists will take place at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) on 17 and 18 October 2019. The lectures will tackle the interaction between the state and kinship.
On 18 October at 9:30 Thomas Zitelmann, who is a senior lecturer from the Freie Universität Berlin, will deliver the open lecture ‘Statehood, Politics and Kinship: An Ethiopianist Perspective on a Long Century of Traditions, Trends and Fashions in Anthropology’.
Students, and anyone else who's interested, is invited to come to a guest lecture by David Schultz on 10 October 2019 at 14:15 in Auditorium 1 in the RSU Central Building. Schultz's lecture will cover one of the most anticipated political events of 2020 - the US Presidential elections.
Professor David Schultz is one of the most prominent election experts and political commentators in the US.
The lecture is organised by the Faculty of European Studies.
Every October is Science Month at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). This month sees various events take place that give a broader insight into the interaction between education, science and the industry. The RSU Student Union is organising four compelling events for students and anyone else who might be interested, which have the aim of enhancing innovative and research-based thinking.
From 23 to 27 September, Belgian medical artist, curator and president of the European Association of Medical and Scientific Illustrators, Pascale Pollier Green, visited Riga to conduct an anatomical drawing masterclass for Master’s students from the Art Academy of Latvia.
