On 30 April 2025 at 11:00, the Ministry of Health will present Letters of Commendation and Gratitude to professionals in the health sector in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the fields of public health, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. The event will take place in the Great Hall at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). Twelve RSU colleagues will also be among those honoured.
Renāte Teterovska's doctoral thesis explores the potential use of plant extracts in veterinary medicine. The aim of the study was to determine the amount and types of phenolic compounds present in selected plant extracts, as well as to evaluate their antioxidant and antibacterial activity against bacteria that cause bovine mastitis.
The prevalence and risk factors of depression and anxiety among medical professionals in Latvia during the COVID-19 pandemic was the subject of a dissertation by Laura Valaine, a PhD student at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).
The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of symptoms of depression and generalised anxiety disorder among medical professionals during the state of emergency in Latvia, track changes in these symptoms over time, and identify associated risk factors.

At the beginning of April, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) participated in the annual conference of the European University Association (EUA), held at the House of Science of the University of Latvia. RSU participated in the plenary session "Universities and the Future EU Programmes for a Sustainable and Resilient Europe," represented by Vice-Rector for Science, Agrita Kiopa.
Developing and sustaining an effective scientific workforce is essential regionally and globally. An interdisciplinary social science community can inform this development through studies of research experiences, research infrastructure and resources, career advancement, mobility, collaborative and other professional activities, and research evaluation. This workshop aims to bring together and create synergies among researchers and stakeholders who share these interests in the Baltic region and/or from a comparative perspective.
