B-Space Business Incubator
The place where business grows
B-Space is where RSU students, researchers and staff turn their ideas into real products or services. It’s a place where innovations take shape and solutions for a better future are created. Participants learn idea development, the basics of entrepreneurship, and find like-minded collaborators. They also have access to funding for developing their ideas, which often gives that first push toward taking a practical step closer to launching their own startup.
The business incubator at Rīga Stradiņš University has been running for six years and offers a wide range of programmes. B-Space also provides access to a broad network of mentors and experts, as well as valuable collaborations with companies, including an idea bank with current industry challenges and opportunities to form long-term partnerships.
In 2025/2026, the incubator is implementing the RSU Innovation Grants for Students project, where participants can learn entrepreneurship skills through pre-incubation and incubation programmes, join a summer camp, and explore industry needs. Students are also invited to take part in the international pre-incubation programme Green Hexagon, which gives them the chance to learn from local and international lecturers and attend an innovation bootcamp in Vienna.
Success stories
A total of 29 teams have graduated from the B-Space Incubation Programme, and their ideas show just how broad the spectrum of innovation can be. Among the solutions are smart apps for medical staff, various healthcare tools, food products, cafés, clothing lines, and consulting services.
Some ideas have already grown into real companies: DRTY Boards manufactures surfboards for the Baltic Sea in Liepāja, Coffee Society has opened its coffee shop in central Riga, while SoulVirtue offers remote psycho-emotional consultations. Other teams are actively shaping their ideas into real solutions too, such as PalLink, which is developing an app for healthcare professionals, and VibroBrace, which is creating a vibrating brace for equestrian sports.
The idea of opening my own café had been in my head for more than five years, since I’d already been working in the coffee industry. For us, the most valuable part of the incubation process was the mentoring sessions with people from the coffee and hospitality sectors. Details like construction permits, potential customer flow or projected electricity bills – it’s most useful to understand these through someone else’s experience. We recommend that programme participants meet regularly and work on their ideas, so they become something real and tangible. The results will come to those who invest their energy, mind and time on their own initiative.
