As autumn and winter approach, vaccines becomes an increasingly popular topic of discussion in every family, and in every general practicioners' office. MD DrPH Victoria Wells Wulsin from the University of Cincinatti gave a guest lecture at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) on 17 September - Immunization Practices in the USA: Successes, Challenges, and Lessons.

The topic of vaccines is very current in Latvia as well as in the US. More and more parents choose to only partially vaccinate their children, if at all. As a result cases of the measels, diphtheria and other preventable diseases have increased. This lecture aims to take a look at immunisation practicies in the US, parents' attitudes towards vaccines, myths and prejudices, as well as possible solutions.
