A total of 88 films have been submitted for the award this year, including 35 feature-length films, nine mini-series, and 44 short films. Due to the large number of entries, the experts nominated by the professional institutions worked in two selection committees: one for feature films and animation, the other for documentaries.

The documentary committee consisted of directors Ieva Ozoliņa, Dzintra Geka, and Uģis Olte, cinematographer Dainis Juraga, film critic Anita Uzulniece, and Kristīne Matīsa, communication specialist at the National Film Centre.

The Lielais Kristaps National Film Awards is organised by the Latvian Filmmakers' Union in cooperation with the National Film Centre and the Ministry of Culture.
