The aim of the meeting was to reach an agreement on starting work on the implementation of the LASE reorganisation plan and establishing a common framework, deadlines and responsibilities in the consolidation process. Earlier, RSU Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons had expressed that

‘to ensure that work continues smoothly during and after the consolidation period, it is crucial to preserve the study programmes, the academic staff, and traditions of the Latvian Academy of Sport Education and for us to continue our activities.’

During the meeting, RSU and LASE management agreed to develop and promote a draft of a four-way cooperation agreement between both universities, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Education and Science on the integration of the academy into the university’s structure. The agreement will provide for provisions on maintaining the autonomy of academic and scientific matters within the university’s structure and preserving and continuing the academy's traditions. The agreement will also outline the measures to improve the academy's infrastructure and ensure a learning environment that meets modern requirements, determine the remuneration of the academy's staff in accordance with existing laws and regulations, and specify measures to ensure that tuition fees or scholarship funding cover the necessary expenses for the provision of the study process. The agreement will also oblige the University to ensure compliance with the post-monitoring conditions for the European Union Structural Funds investment projects implemented by the academy.
