Today, 3 April, the first call for proposals for research and innovation projects (PIP) of the Biomedical and Photonics Research Platform for Innovative Product Creation (BioPhoT) has been publicly announced.
The BioPhoT platform supports research and innovation projects in the fields of biomedicine, medical technology, pharmacy, photonics, smart materials, electronics, electrical engineering, technology, and engineering systems. The applicant for BioPhoT projects is a scientific institution. The competition regulations and its annexes can be found here.

Artificial intelligence will not harm but rather improve doctor-patient relationships and enhance the work of medical professionals overall, emphasised Dr. Bertalan Meskó—healthcare futurist, leading medical future researcher, and innovation analyst—in an interview with Latvian Radio.
The presentation "Studying international attraction through public opinion surveys: Sinophone Borderlands project" and Latvian attitudes towards China will introduce a large scale survey of 56 countries worldwide conducted as part of the Sinophone Borderlands project at Palacky University Olomouc.
On 14 April 2025, a cooperation agreement between RSU and the Constitutional Court will be signed.
After the signing of the agreement, a presentation about RSU will be shown.
In accordance with decisions made by the President of Latvia and the Chapter of Orders of 24 March 2025, the highest Latvian state decorations have been conferred upon those whose dedicated professional work and public achievements are of particular significance at the national level. Among the awardees are two lecturers from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and a member of the Convention of Councillors, Māris Rēvalds.
The Rīga Stradiņš University Constitutional Assembly will hold a meeting on Tuesday, 6 May.

On Tuesday, 1 April, Kensuke Yoshida, Ambassador of Japan to Latvia, visited RSU to explore the University’s scientific initiatives and development areas, as well as to discuss potential opportunities for future cooperation between Latvia and Japan in the fields of research and education.
Nowadays, no one needs to be convinced of the crucial role biobanks play in the advancement of precision medicine and research. A clinical university hospital laboratory is undoubtedly an excellent place to ensure the collection of various, including rare and highly sought-after, samples. However, the devil is in the details - making a biobank meaningful, sustainable, and ensuring its samples remain in demand comes with a range of challenges that must be addressed.
18 September is International Equal Pay Day. This day highlights ongoing efforts to achieve equal pay for work of equal value. The gender pay gap is not simply a matter of women earning less than men for the same job but results from broader systemic inequalities in the labour market.
