RSU library premises are now more accessible

To make Rīga Stradiņš University premises more accessible to students and other patrons with disabilities, in December 2018 a lift was launched in the library, located in the main building, providing library users with added access between floors. On the first floor the lift can be accessed via the Open Access Loan area, while on the second floor – access is via the Reading Room. Also, the books from the Reading Room on the second floor can now also be read in the Open Access Loan Reading Rooms on the first floor.

Pauls Stradiņš Award winner announced

The winner of Pauls Stradiņš Award is traditionally announced on 17 January, the birthday of professor Pauls Stradiņš. This year the award goes to Professor Alfredo Musajo Somma for his contribution to strengthening the role of Latvia, the Latvian Association of Medical Historians, Rīga Stradiņš University and Pauls Stradiņš Museum of the History of Medicine among medical historians on the international scale.

Maksims Čistjakovs

Maksims Čistjakovs, researcher at the RSU Institute of Microbiology and Virology, already started to think of himself as a researcher in Grade 11 at secondary school. Back then, a young biology teacher started working at his school; and he roused interest with his passion and knowledge and, as it turned out later, laid the foundations for Maksims' career. The young researcher was inspired by molecular biology in particular, because it helps in the study of various molecular mechanisms in the human body and even look for new medicines and test them.
