To make Rīga Stradiņš University premises more accessible to students and other patrons with disabilities, in December 2018 a lift was launched in the library, located in the main building, providing library users with added access between floors. On the first floor the lift can be accessed via the Open Access Loan area, while on the second floor – access is via the Reading Room. Also, the books from the Reading Room on the second floor can now also be read in the Open Access Loan Reading Rooms on the first floor.
SRHR policy research – achievements and challenges is a side event organised by the Academic Network for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Policy (ANSER) and will be held on 3 April 2019.
Leonard George is a sixth year medical student from Hamburg, Germany, who has been active in the International Students‘ Association (ISA) for a number of years. His main area of activity in the association was assisting students with academic issues. Leonard also shares his views on his own experience while studying Medicine at RSU.
The winner of Pauls Stradiņš Award is traditionally announced on 17 January, the birthday of professor Pauls Stradiņš. This year the award goes to Professor Alfredo Musajo Somma for his contribution to strengthening the role of Latvia, the Latvian Association of Medical Historians, Rīga Stradiņš University and Pauls Stradiņš Museum of the History of Medicine among medical historians on the international scale.
Maksims Čistjakovs, researcher at the RSU Institute of Microbiology and Virology, already started to think of himself as a researcher in Grade 11 at secondary school. Back then, a young biology teacher started working at his school; and he roused interest with his passion and knowledge and, as it turned out later, laid the foundations for Maksims' career. The young researcher was inspired by molecular biology in particular, because it helps in the study of various molecular mechanisms in the human body and even look for new medicines and test them.
On Wednesday 6 February the regular event titled Researchers' Breakfast will be held at Rīga Stradiņš University.
In February 2019, the Alumni Association (AA) of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will celebrate its 10th anniversary. The Association was established with an objective to promote the lifelong learning of alumni and involve them in university life, and over the years the Association has made inroads in strengthening the alumni culture at RSU.
