Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is ranked among the 25 best universities in the world in the research category on Open Access publications in the U-Multirank international university rankings published on 9 June 2020.
For the third year in a row, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) has steadily maintained its position in the 801–1000 group in the QS World University Rankings 2021, an international ranking of institutions of higher education. Despite its steady place in the overall ranking, RSU improves its performance every year according to QS data.
On 9 June, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted the decision to end the state of emergency in Latvia and ease restrictions on gathering size. The management of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is therefore planning to hold the summer graduation ceremonies in the backyard of the Great Hall and in the nearby Inspiration Park. All epidemiological safety measures will be observed to protect graduates, employees and the general public.

From 2018 to 2019, the article "Prevalence of self-reported chronic pain among adolescents: Evidence from 42 countries and regions” by Assoc. Prof. Inese Gobiņa, a leading researcher at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Institute of Public Health, was in the top 10% of the most downloaded articles in the internationally acclaimed European Journal of Pain.
The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) scientific journal Socrates passed the evaluation process successfully and has been indexed in the ICI Journals Master List database for 2019. Index Copernicus Experts calculated the 2019 Index Copernicus Value (ICV) for Socrates at 75.14.

As of 29 May, the app Apturi COVID is available to all Latvian citizens free of charge. The contact tracing app has been commissioned by the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC) of Latvia and developed by information and communication technology specialists and researchers to help limit the spread of the virus safely and conveniently.
