RSU opens its doors to new students from all over the world

At the end of the academic semester, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) welcomed prospective international students and their families to an Open Day. This was a great opportunity to get acquainted with the University in person, to see the environment and the international community, where young people from over 80 countries are currently studying. 

Taurenis 2025 has taken flight!

Summer for students at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and other universities has begun with high energy - Taurenis 2025 brought emotions, joy, and new friendships! On 14 to 15 June, the RSU sports and recreation base Taurene hosted the student sports and active leisure festival Taurenis 2025, bringing together more than 250 students from various universities across Latvia.

AI and students’ mental health unite experts at RSU Erasmus+ Staff Week

From 2 to 6 June, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted international Erasmus+ Staff Week, ‘Mind Meets Machine: AI and the Future of Student Mental Health’. The event brought together policymakers in education, lecturers, psychologists, researchers, AI experts, and mental health professionals from across Europe to jointly explore innovative solutions for improving student well-being in the digital age.

Sugar

Sugar is found in almost all everyday products – juices, breakfast cereals, yoghurt, even bread. Studies have shown that excessive sugar consumption can lead to major health problems such as tooth decay, excess weight, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

How does sugar affect our health, metabolism and put a strain on the healthcare system? And what can the state do to reduce sugar consumption? This is what researchers at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) have studied in a major public health study.

On Wednesday, 4 June, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons awarded diplomas to the newly elected professors and associate professors at RSU. 

‘Professors and associate professors ensure high quality of studies and research, greater opportunities for international collaboration, lead projects, attract funding and drive innovation, and mentor the next generation of academics.

As people age, their cognitive abilities – such as memory and attention – change. Sometimes these changes can be early signs of more serious cognitive impairments that may lead to pathological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease. Early detection of cognitive impairments is particularly important, as it allows for timely intervention and support for groups at risk.
