The next phase in the construction of Rīga Stradiņš University’s (RSU) upcoming sports complex commenced on Wednesday, 16 April. The occasion was marked by the laying of a time capsule containing messages for future generations. The building, located at 3 Cigoriņu iela, Riga, will be a modern, multifunctional sports centre with a total area of 3,627 square metres, including a sports hall, as well as facilities for training, exercise and fitness, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.

On 14 April, the Constitutional Court and Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening the development of legal science and enhancing the quality of research in Latvia. The agreement establishes closer dialogue between the Constitutional Court and academia, creating a platform where science and judicial practice interact to address legal issues of public importance.
Climate change, which until recently was one of the main topics on politicians’ and scientists’ agenda, now seems to be side-lined, waiting for better times. Whether environmental policy needs to change in the light of the current situation is one of the topics discussed in the TV programme “Latvijas Formula”.
On 13 April, the RSU/MSĢ women’s volleyball team kicked off their gold medal battle against Mārupes SC, aiming to defend their championship title from last season. In the first final match of the Optibet Latvian Women’s Championship, held at the Rimi Olympic Centre in Riga, RSU/MSĢ secured a 3-1 victory.
