From 21 June to 1 July, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will host summer graduations – 1153 Bachelor’s and Master’s study programme graduates from eight faculties, the International Student Department and RSU Liepāja Branch will receive their diplomas. The graduations will take place in person at the RSU Great Hall next to the Inspiration Park, while the graduates’ congratulators are also invited to follow the graduations online on the RSU website.

This summer, 812 medical and healthcare students will graduate from RSU, including 45 from the Liepāja Branch and 195 international students. 341 social science students will also receive their diplomas; compared to last year, the number of graduates of social science study programmes has increased by almost 10 %.

The RSU Liepāja Branch started the graduation marathon on 21 June. This summer, 20 graduates of nursing studies, 13 physician assistants and 12 therapeutic masseurs received their diplomas there. RSU Liepāja Branch is the only higher education institution in the Kurzeme region that has been offering healthcare education for more than 75 years.

A week later, the graduations will continue in Riga. On Tuesday, 28 June, at 11:00, 134 graduates of the Faculty of Communication, including 39 multimedia communication experts, 26 psychologists, 17 bachelors and 14 masters of public relations, 14 sociologists, as well as a total of 22 health communication specialists, journalists, photographers and media studies experts, will celebrate their graduation. At 15.00 the graduation will be celebrated by the Faculty of Pharmacy, which has 31 pharmacist graduates this summer, and the Faculty of Rehabilitation, where the graduates include 114 functional specialists in various fields, the largest number of whom are physiotherapists (56), audio speech therapists (17), occupational therapists (12), nutritionists (9), as well as 15 masters of rehabilitation and physiotherapy, and five orthotists/prosthetists.

The Faculty of European Studies will congratulate its 126 graduates on Wednesday, 29 June, at 11:00. The largest number of graduates from this faculty are bachelors (34) and masters (20) in international relations, specialists of international marketing and advertising (19), regional policy and management (13), and international business and sustainable economy (11). This summer, 29 bachelors in political science, start-up business managers, masters in international marketing and business administration, as well as students of the English-language International Governance and Diplomacy programme are also graduating from the Faculty. At 15:00 a large number of graduates of the RSU Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare will gather at the graduation ceremony, where a total of 193 specialists will graduate from 11 study programmes. The largest numbers of graduates from the faculty are bachelors and masters in nursing, public health and social work. This summer’s graduates also include midwives, health management, psychology, supervision and nutrition specialists.

On Thursday, 30 June, at 11:00, the Faculty of Dentistry will congratulate its graduates, with 33 dentists and 15 dental hygienists graduating this year, while at 15:00 the Faculty of Law will welcome its 56 Bachelors of Law and 25 Masters of Law.

The graduation marathon will be concluded by medical students on Friday, 1 July. At 11:00, 176 new physicians from the Latvian group of the Faculty of Medicine will be honoured; at 15:00, a further 160 from the international and mixed groups of the same faculty will receive their diplomas.

It is planned that not only the RSU and faculty managements, but also government officials, employers’ representatives and other guests will congratulate the new specialists at the graduation ceremonies both in video format and in person.
