About Study Course
Objective
To introduce the basic paradigms and theories in mass communication and cultural sociology.
Prerequisites
Introduction to Communication Theories.
Learning outcomes
Students are able to name and outline theoretical approaches and key issues discussed within the framework of the paradigms and theories of mass communication and cultural sociology.
By orienting themselves in the paradigms and theories of mass communication and cultural sociology, students are prepared to do the following:
• to critically and sociologically analyse cultural journalism products in different types of media;
• to provide advice to media and public relations practitioners on the issues of paradigms and theory of mass communication and cultural sociology;
• to produce critical articles and/or programs in the field of cultural journalism with a sociological conceptual arsenal.
To have good knowledge of the paradigms of mass communication and cultural sociology + students are able to apply their knowledge in the field of cultural media and cultural journalism to develop independent, sustainable cultural journalism projects and to identify issues related to cultural journalism agenda, journalistic quality, audience, and media specificity.
