The Rīga Stradiņš University Institute of Stomatology is a leading dental care and research centre in the Baltics – modern, experienced and internationally recognised. Every patient is offered high-quality treatment and a multidisciplinary approach for any dental condition.
The Institute of Stomatology is equipped with some of the world’s most advanced medical equipment, enabling the use of the latest dental technologies and techniques in its clinical practice. It is the only institution in Latvia specialising in dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery that not only carries out outstanding clinical work but also conducts internationally recognised academic work and scientific research in dentistry.
The Institute of Stomatology regularly organises courses and events to enhance dentists’ professional skills and introduce them to new treatment methods. The Institute of Stomatology is also an academic institution where research is conducted and scientific projects are developed.
The strategic objective of the Institute of Stomatology is to drive the development of dentistry and related specialties in Latvia by providing high-quality healthcare services in accordance with the capital company’s profile, ensuring:

RSU has assessed the compliance of its participation in SIA Rīgas Stradiņa universitātes Stomatoloģijas institūts with Section 88 of the State Administration Structure Law and the conditions set out in the Law on Governance of Capital Shares of Public Entity and Management of Capital Companies Thereof.
As part of the assessment of the participation and the operations of the company, the Competition Council’s Opinion No. 1.7-2/990 of 26 September 2024 on RSU’s participation in SIA Rīgas Stradiņa universitātes Stomatoloģijas institūts and the Competition Council’s Opinion No. 1.7-2/92 of 20 January 2025 on the expansion of the capital company’s operations have been received.
The Competition Council has concluded that the Institute’s operations as a whole can be considered compliant with Section 88 of the State Administration Structure Law, taking into account, inter alia, the Institute’s role in supporting RSU’s academic and research activities, the training of dental specialists and residents, the provision of multidisciplinary and specialised healthcare services, as well as its role in developing RSU’s ecosystem as a research university.
With regard to the expansion of the Institute’s activities, the Competition Council raised no conceptual objections to the launch of the Study and Research Centre for Orthodontics, while emphasising the need to ensure that its activities comply with the principles of competitive neutrality and to justify the expansion of its activities into service sectors in which private market participants operate.
Based on the assessment made and the conclusions drawn by the competent authorities, RSU has decided to maintain its participation in SIA Rīgas Stradiņa universitātes Stomatoloģijas institūts.

In accordance with Section 15, Paragraph one of the Law on Governance of Capital Shares of Public Entity and Management of Capital Companies Thereof, the representative of the holder of capital shares is the Rector of RSU.
