Announcement regarding study process at RSU from 23 November; state of emergency still in force

In order to reduce health risks to Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) students, staff and visitors, as well as the risk to the continuity of studies, research and scientific activity at RSU, studies will be organised remotely until the end of the autumn semester of the academic year 2020/2021 (including the examination period) - 30 January 2021.

For the period of 23 November 2020 to 30 January 2021, the study process will take place remotely, with the following exceptions:

A year and a half ago, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) signed a partnership contract with Ziv Medical Center to establish a clinical training centre. This partnership enables RSU students to attend an orthopaedics course in Israel and learn from experienced specialists. The COVID-19 pandemic has not been an obstacle to this partnership; a new contract has been signed, and RSU students can undergo a ten-week clinical placement in the excellent trauma centre in northern Israel. 

 Order of the Three Stars

Following a decision by the President of Latvia and the Chapter of Orders on 30 October 2020, the highest state decoration has been bestowed upon 115 members of society. Among them were four professors from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU): Prof. Andris Jumtiņš, Assoc. Prof. Ojārs Teteris, Prof. Jānis Zaļkalns and Prof. Ģirts Briģis.

The RSU Sports Club Remains Open!

Despite the national state of emergency, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Sports Club remains open. Students and employees are welcome to visit the Sports Club on weekdays for individual workouts, 8:00 - 21:00. Before coming to the Sports Club, book a time by calling 67612026. Students and employees can also enjoy online workout sessions with Sports Club trainers.

RSU Professor and Infectologist Baiba Rozentāle: We Have to Be Able to Predict the Development of the Virus

The Latvian Centre of Infectious Diseases is currently the largest hospital in Latvia treating patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 infections. However, with the rapid increase in the number of cases, patients are also being admitted to in-patient care units at the Riga East University Hospital. Baiba Rozentāle, the Chief Physician of the Latvian Centre of Infectious Diseases and a Professor at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), is participating in a national research project aiming to study the development of COVID-19 and develop the best treatment options.
