From 4 to 8 November, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will host the annual Internationalisation Conference and Erasmus+ Staff Week. The events are organised by the International Department (ID) at RSU.
The annual Obstetrics and Gynaecology – Current and Discussable Matters congress took place between 3 and 4 October in Kiev. It was organised by the Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Ukraine. Latvia was represented at the congress by a delegation made up of medical residents Elizabete Pumpure, Anita Ungure and Santa Smilga from the Gynaecologist, Obstetrician study programme of the Faculty of Continuing Education at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).
The Rīga Stradiņš University International Students’ Association (RSU ISA) was founded in 2011 by a group of international students and is this year celebrating its 8th anniversary. As a part of the anniversary celebrations RSU ISA organised an entire week of celebrations from 14 to 18 October 2019. This anniversary was dedicated to the extraordinary contribution that the association’s members and supporters have made, and to those who have committed themselves to improving student life for the past eight years.
RSU has now been included on the list of scientific institutions recognised by Eurostat with access to their statistical database. This means that RSU scientists can now request meta- and microdata from Eurostat by submitting a study application description. This opens researchers up to significantly more research opportunities.
Professor Kristīne Mārtinsone is the Head of the Department of Health Psychology and Paedagogy at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). Together with her colleagues at RSU, she has developed a Bachelor’s, a Master’s and a PhD study programme in psychology.
This month Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), along with other European educational institutions, participated in the European Commission's Erasmus Days initiative. Nowadays, we are well aware of the adverse effects of eating too much, but women's health is also adversely affected by the opposite problem - diets and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. This problem is also acute in Latvia where 10% of 15-year-old girls are overweight or obese, but 25% of girls of this age follow diets. On 4 October, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) participated in ICEBREAKERS'19 – the biggest business opportunity festival for students in Northern Europe. This all-day event took place in the House of Science at the University of Latvia.
Representatives from EATRIS (The European Advanced Translational Research Infrastructure in Medicine) visited Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) on 1 - 2 October. EATRIS is part of the European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) that brings together European countries with the aim of speeding up development of new medicines and diagnostic methods by fostering access to a modern, trans-European infrastructure.
