Advances in sequencing technologies have created vast and diverse biological and biomedical datasets (multiOmics). This lecture will introduce methods for integrating multiOmics data, showing how combined analysis can reveal biological insights not captured by single datasets. I will highlight key machine learning approaches and practical strategies for analyzing large-scale biomedical data.
Gunta Lazdāne, Professor at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, is one of the most renowned specialists in sexual and reproductive health in Latvia and internationally. Her professional career has been closely linked to the World Health Organization (WHO), where she was responsible for sexual and reproductive health at a European level. In Latvia, her contribution centres on teaching young doctors and students, as well as conducting research.
On Wednesday, 24 September, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons was presented the highest distinction of the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation (BITF) at a ceremony held in the RSU Senate Hall. Prof. Pētersons’ received the BITF Badge of Honour in recognition of his contribution to the development of medical education and science in Latvia. During the event, the Foundation also announced its new scholarship recipients – future medical professionals.
Each year, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) reviews and improves the criteria for its Science Motivation Programme to align with the University’s strategic goals and the growing importance of research results in international rankings. In the past two years, the programme has undergone major changes, including adjustments to the amount of remuneration and the conditions for receiving it.
On 15 October 2025, the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre (METC) will host the German Ambassador Gudrun Masloch and Head of the Legal and Consular Section of the German Embassy Beate Kirch.
The Ambassador will meet with RSU management and students, tour the METC and learn about simulations and military medical education at RSU.
In Latvia, one of the winners of the Women in Science Baltic Fellowship 2025 competition is Asst. Prof. PhD Jana Kukaine, Lead Researcher at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Social Sciences. She received the fellowship for her research project Plant Aesthetics in Baltic Contemporary Art: Women’s Stories and Experiences.
