About Study Course
Objective
To teach students the basic principles of enteral and parenteral nutrition in the care of severe patients, acquisition of basic knowledge of clinical toxicology.
Prerequisites
Human anatomy, physiology and biology in the scope of a high school course, as well as in pharmacology, biochemistry and first aid.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to describe the peculiarities of metabolism during conventional fasting and post-aggression phase, malnutrition, energy and plastic substrate provision, enteral and parenteral nutrition, its components, more common complications, normal water, electrolytes, trace elements, vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates and fats, carbohydrates and fats theoretical foundations: epidemiology, mechanisms of poisoning, more frequent manifestations, general principles of treatment, possible consequences and prognosis of poisoning, methods of accelerated elimination of toxic substances.
The student will be able to formulate enteral and parenteral nutrition formulas for different groups of patients.
The student will be competent to apply enteral / parenteral feeding methods according to the specifics of a particular patient and clinical situation, as well as will be competent in the theoretical foundations of toxicology.
