Apply for autumn semester courses

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Open University allows anyone to enrol in the Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health and Rehabilitation study programmes offered by RSU or to individual study courses as a free listener. 

Study what inspires you

Learn about the study possibilities available, the syllabi of the offered study courses, select the topics you are interested in and apply. After the receipt and consideration of your application you will be informed of the study schedule, time and place, tuition fee, teaching staff and the amount of credit points you will acquire.

Manage your time

You have the freedom to choose between two options: 

  • Participate as a free listener without taking any tests or exams;
  • Study under the same conditions as other students and obtain a document certifying the amount of credit points obtained.

No admission exams!

To enrol at the Open University you do not have to take any admission exams. However, please note that to acquire the complete study programme in the capacity of a free listener you must be able to certify that you have acquired the required level of previous education.

There is a limited number of places on the course.

The tuition fee for the study course is calculated by multiplying the amount of credit points with the rate of a single credit point. The rate of a single credit point in the Medicine study programme is 344.00 EUR.

Procedure for attendees

To obtain a document certifying the acquisition of courses at RSU Open University, please observe the following procedure:

  • Step 1: Submit your application:
    • Students of the RSU International Student Department: fill out the online registration form (see below);
    • Others: complete all the application items using the application checklist
Applications for study courses starting in September must be submitted by 25 August; for courses starting in October – you must submit your application 10 working days before the beginning of the selected study course.
  • Step 2: After approval by the Open University, the Open University will provide consultations with regard to the acquisition of the study courses – conditions, tuition fees, credit points and venue;
  • Step 3: After receipt of the notification by the Open University you must arrive at the university to sign your contract;
  • Step 4: Pay the tuition fee after receiving the invoice. The Open University will send you information about the venue and access to e-studies;
  • Step 5: During the first class, notify the teacher that you applied to the course through the Open University;
  • Step 6: At the end of the course you will receive one of the following documents:
    • in case of the acquisition of the entire course and passing the exam you will receive a certificate containing the grade and number of credit points signed by the Vice-Rector for Education;
    • in the case of the acquisition of the course without passing the exam you will receive a certificate containing the number of academic hours signed by the author of the respective course;
    • in case of participation in the lecture, class or seminar you will receive a reference containing information about the topic and the number of academic hours signed by the author of the respective course and head of the Division of Postgraduate Courses.
