Assessment
Unaided Work:
Preparation of presentation on first aid, using the recommended literature and Internet sources, followed by the evaluation and analysis during practical classes.
Assessment Criteria:
Exam: MCQ and an oral test, a practical examination in cardiopulmonary resuscitation using adult and children mannequins. Evaluation of the performance of resuscitation on mannequin: (1) step sequence and resuscitation algorithm; (2) primary investigation of the victim (ABC); (3) finding the right point for indirect cardiac compression and the depth of massage; (4) airway manual opening, practical realization of artificial ventilation "mouth-mouth" or "mouth-nose", the right inspiratory capacity should be reached in at least 70% of attempts; (5) practical implementation of stable lateral recovery position; (6) implementation of Heimlich method in case of choking. More than 75% of correct answers should be obtained at the theoretical pre-test.
Final Examination (Full-Time):Exam
Final Examination (Part-Time):
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:As a result of the study course, students will be able to perform primary survey of the victim in the pre-hospital stage, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, will have obtained main knowledge in stopping bleeding, anti-shock measures, immobilization in cases of bone fractures, assistance in burns, overheating, hypothermia and acute poisoning.
Skills:Students will be able to perform emergency care, including basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation algorithm, to recognize symptoms of clinical and biological death, evacuation of foreign body, to carry out ventilation with a manual ventilator and oxygen inhalations via facial mask, to diagnose inner and outer bleeding and to perform its suspension, as well as to demonstrate the ability to work as a team.
Competencies:To provide emergency care, primary and secondary survey of the patient at the pre-hospital stage, situation analysis providing basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other first-aid guidelines, to assess the environmental impact of physical factors on the human body and health.
