Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of respiratory system. Physical examination of respiratory system. Radiological methods in pneumonology. Pharmacology of respiratory system.
Objective:
To obtain more knowledge about relevant topics, to be able to evaluate patients with respiratory system diseases, to evaluate the pathological process features and treatment options for certain patients at different treatment phases.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Students will do in-depth research on the relevant topics and prepare presentations.
Assessment Criteria:
1. Tests during the lessons. 2. Situation tasks during the lessons. 3. Written examination at the end: 100 MCQ (20% of final mark); 2 theoretical questions (40% of final mark); 2 clinical cases (40% of final mark).

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:With acquired knowledge students will know: • different diseases of respiratory system; • how to examine patients with lung disease; • treatment options for specific diagnosis; • possible complications.
Skills:At the end of course student will be able: • to summarize information about relevant diagnosis; • to recognize different disease of respiratory system; • to use the appropriate methods in diagnostic process; • to prescribe an appropriate examination plan; • to prescribe an appropriate treatment plan; • to recognize complications.
Competencies:On successful completion of the course, students will be able to develop an investigation plan for pulmonary diseases, explain laboratory and other additional examination results, prescribe treatment.
