Preliminary Knowledge:
The student has passed the examination in the course “Introduction to Criminal Investigation” and has obtained a security clearance.
Objective:
Acquire necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills in carrying out criminal investigation and operational activities and in application of operational activity methodology. Tasks: 1. Advance students’ understanding of legal and organisational basis for criminal investigations and operational activities. 2. Practical application of the acquired theoretical knowledge in the field of criminal investigation and operational activities in accordance with their functional duties. 3. Develop students’ practical skills in cooperation with other subjects of operational activity and law enforcement institutions.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Knowledge of legal and organisational foundations of criminal investigation and operational activities has been acquired; knowledge of cooperation with other subjects of operational activity and law enforcement institutions has been acquired; knowledge of tactical techniques for application of criminal investigation tools has been acquired; knowledge of the possibilities of using criminal investigation tools in the prevention and detection of criminal offences has been gained; knowledge of the nature of the criminal investigation tactics and the process of criminal investigation has been gained; knowledge of the methods of the agency and the possibilities to work with secret assistants in the prevention and detection of criminal offences has been acquired; knowledge of the initial and emergency criminal investigation measures in detecting criminal offences has been acquired.
Skills:Ability to cooperate with other subjects of operational activities and law enforcement institutions; ability to conduct initial and emergency criminal investigation in detection of criminal offences; ability to assess the operational situation and operational risk; ability to take operational measures in general and particular manner.
Competencies:Able to cooperate with other subjects of operational activity and law enforcement institutions; able to carry out initial and urgent criminal investigation in detection of criminal offences; able to evaluate the operational situation and operational risk; able to take operational measures in general and particular manner; able to use the acquired knowledge of criminal investigations and operational activities in practice.
