Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Knowledge about the institutions of the European Union, communication theories, decision-making process, topical political events.
Objective:
To develop understanding of the European Union communication policy – its principles, goals and implementation aspects. To promote learning of knowledge about the European Union, as well as to build skills to use the obtained knowledge in the analysis of communication processes and phenomena.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Evaluation of the EU communication campaign. Distance students are required to prepare a general overview - a presentation on EU communication policy.
Assessment Criteria:
The final grade (in a 10-point grading scale) is formed by 2 (two) works – seminar work and examination work in accordance with the specified share in the final mark: Seminar work (40%): Presentation on one of classes 8 – 10 – seminar topics at the student’s discretion. Time allocated for a presentation ~ 10 minutes during classes 8 – 10 – seminar, including questions and a discussion. The presentation should include student’s understanding of the matter being studied, research results, as well as conclusions and proposals for improvement of communication practices. The presentation should also be submitted electronically (by sending to the university lecturer’s e-mail) on the next day after the last class (Sunday until 23:59). If it is impossible to participate in the seminar, individual work should be submitted to the university lecturer electronically (by sending to the university lecturer’s e-mail) on the day of the seminar before the seminar. Examination work: Report (60%): Approach chosen by the student to the disclosure of the report topic (seminar topic 5). Minimum scope – 15 A4 pages. Report preparation (pursuant to RSU requirements), including text font size 12 points, Times New Roman, line spacing 1.5. Smaller characters may be used in tables, figures. Within 1 week of the end of the course (Sunday until 23:59) it should be submitted in a written form (by sending to the university lecturer’s e-mail). If the deadline for submission of works is not observed, the mark will be lowered by 1 point for each work (2 works in total).

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:After mastering the course students formulate EU communication policy goals, basic principles, rationale for creation and implementation specifics.
Skills:After mastering the course students analyse the specifics of implementation of EU communication policy, tools used and operation mechanisms.
Competencies:After mastering the course students critically evaluate EU communication campaigns.
