To acquire the ability to view and solve health care and public health problems, to justify the relevance thereof, to conduct independent research, to analyse and summarise the results of research.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
During the study course, the student cooperates with the supervisor of the qualification paper. * The topic is agreed with the supervisor of the qualification paper, approved at the RSU Liepāja Branch council meeting. After successfully passing the preliminary defence, the documents are submitted to the RSU Liepāja Branch Ethics Committee.
Assessment Criteria:
Final examination – exam, defence of the qualification paper. The following is assessed: the qualification paper, the student’s skill to present the qualification paper orally in front of the committee, the prepared presentation. The following is presented: 1. Title page. 2. Relevance of the topic, rationale, objective, scientific categories. 3. A brief insight into the theoretical research. 4. Practical research including: - methodology (mention the time period when the research was carried out, the respondents, etc.) - research results and analysis. 5. The most important conclusions. 6. A conclusion about the hypothesis or answer to the research question.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:After successful fulfilment of the requirements of the qualification paper, the student will have acquired the knowledge that will allow them to describe the relevance of the chosen topic, to describe the research methodology and results, to participate in solving and managing research issues.
Skills:As a result of completing the study course, the student is able to differentiate the research methods necessary to achieve the result according to the set research. The skill to discuss and defend a point of view on a chosen topic is developed.
Competencies:Will be able to evaluate, plan and carry out the activities to prepare the theoretical and research sections of the qualification paper.
