Objective: | To develop communicative skills in the use of the Russian language for study purposes and work in the future specialty; promote the learning of professional terminology and practical application thereof. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | Individual and group work – preparing presentations, working with a dictionary – explaining terms; summary. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Active participation in practical classes; assignments completed in high quality, quality of oral answers, presentations related to medical topics, tests to check the knowledge and practical application of terminology learned – 50%. At the end of the course – a written examination to test the skill of using functional language – matching, substitution tasks and multiple-choice tasks – 50%. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | As a result of successfully completing the study course, students: • will recognise professional terminology in various types of texts, • will name the Russian equivalents of the most commonly used terms in the field of massage, • will describe various phenomena related to the field of massage, using professional terminology in Russian. | ||||||||
Skills: | As a result of successfully completing the study course, students will be able: • to select and correctly use terminology for oral communication (for example, making presentations, in discussions) and writing (for example, physician’s notes, letters to an advisor, reviews of medical articles) in the field of massage, • to use appropriate means of expression to express one’s opinion in both oral and written communication, • to provide a summary of the information obtained both orally and in writing, using appropriate terminology and retell the general content of the text. | ||||||||
Competencies: | As a result of successfully completing the study course, students will be able to practically use the terminology learned in various situations of communication. | ||||||||
