Preliminary Knowledge:
Latin alphabet.
Objective:
Form understanding and knowledge of the usage and importance of the Latin language in learning medical terminology, evaluate the role of the Latin language in studying other medical subjects.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Learning nouns and adjectives; learning prefixes and suffixes for the noun and the adjective; regularly finished homework on every topic; checking homework and other tasks in class with other students; working with dictionaries, additional materials and Internet resources. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.
Assessment Criteria:
Attendance, participation in group work, keeping deadlines with homework (20%), passed tests that check word agreement in phrases and sentences, identifying words and using appropriate endings, as well as writing skills and ability to explain and classify terms (80%).

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:After having successfully completed the course, the student can: • explain the basic rules of pronunciation and spelling; • recognise and name prefixes and suffixes of Latin and Greek origin; • explain the meaning of Greek elements in the medical terminology; • speak on the basic rules in the formation and usage of anatomical and clinical terms.
Skills:After having successfully completed the course, the student can: • pronounce and write medical terms correctly; • form new words and identify them; • form and explain anatomical and clinical terms; • classify and compare medical terms; • read Latin terms in prescriptions; • interpret and understand the meaning of sayings and quotes in Latin.
Competencies:After having successfully completed the course, the student will be able to use anatomical and clinical terminology in the study process and professional work.
