Objective:
Provide insight into project management as a significant discipline for the development of Latvia, provide students with theoretical knowledge and promote the practical application of theoretical knowledge in the field of project development and management, as well as in attracting European Union funds and other financial resources.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Contact classes: introductory lecture; group discussions; work in small groups. Consultations regarding the independent work. Student independent work at project development. 1st stage: the project idea, goal and tasks, justification of the need (statistics, research, etc.) Preparing the project application form. 2nd stage: the project content, budget, attraction of specialists and team building, time plan. 3rd stage: cooperation partners, publicity, marketing, the use of technologies. Risks and their assessment. 4th stage: project presentation. Upon completion of the course, the course evaluation questionnaire must be filled in.
Assessment Criteria:
ASSESSMENT will be done in 3 parts: PART 1: PRACTICAL WORK AND SEMINARS: maximum 50% of the total score. PART 2: A TEST; maximum 25% of the total score, breakdown by number of replies correctly provided, assuming that 30 (maximum) correct answers are 100%: * 10 and less correct answers = 0 %; * 10 - 17 correct answers = 5 %; * 18 - 23 correct answers = 15 %; * above 24 correct answers = 25%. PART 3: ATTENDANCE: maximum 25% of the total score: * 100% attendance - 25% of the total score; * attendance at least 80% - 15% of the total score; * attendance below 80% - 0%. TOTAL of 100% - a pass on the condition that a total of 60% is achieved and at least 15% in each of the parts assessed.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:The student will be able to demonstrate the acquired knowledge and understanding by explaining the concept of the project and other key terms, as well as by describing project management processes. The student will be able to describe the design and planning of the project, as well as the process and stages of the project implementation and management. The student will be able to name and describe the basic principles of project team building and assess risks; classify and evaluate the available resources.
Skills:The student will be able to collect relevant information about the available financial resources and project competitions, apply appropriate basic management skills in project preparation and implementation. Select cooperation partners and coordinate team work, work with project documentation and evaluate the project. Present projects publicly.
Competencies:The student will be able to use the acquired knowledge and skills in situations where it is beneficial to initiate new projects or to participate in different stages of project implementation to achieve specific goals. The student will be able to analyse and assess the potential for project efficiency and the related risks. Initiate new, valuable projects.
