| Objective: | To introduce students to the social work profession and the competence of social work specialists; describe the directions of social work; to provide information about the state and municipal support system for various target groups; create an understanding of the levels of social work practice; introduce ways of influencing decision makers. | ||||||||

| Knowledge: | To explain the basic principles and values of social work, based on the international definition of social work; list the directions of social work; describe the competence of social work specialists; describe the basic principles of state and municipal support systems and formation thereof; describe the levels of social work practice; describe ways of influencing decision makers. | ||||||||
| Skills: | To identify current social problems in Latvia; explain the concept of social work; name and describe the directions of social work; name the main laws and regulations governing social services and social assistance in Latvia, as well as list the institutions responsible for social services and social assistance in Latvia. | ||||||||
